Jan Fischer defends results of Czech Presidency - MEPs give mixed assessment

Brussels, 15/07/2009 (Agence Europe) - The Czech Presidency of the EU in the first half of 2009 certainly went through some "difficult moments" and had to deal with "unexpected problems" (such as the fall of the government of Mirek Topolánek), "but I do not believe that our internal political problems damaged our European Presidency", Czech Prime Minister Jan Fischer told the new European Parliament in Strasbourg on Wednesday 15 July.
