24/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - In an interview with the Czech radio on Monday, the president of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Klaus, said he planned to be the “last within the EU to take a stance on the Lisbon Treaty”. Once the text has been adopted by the Czech House of Representatives and the Upper House, all that is needed is the signature of the head of state to complete the ratification process. Vaclav Klaus had already intimated that he would wait for the decision of the Czech constitutional council (referred to by circles around him) but also the new vote by the Irish this autumn before the treaty is initialled. However, since Monday, he has said that the decision of the German constitutional court as well as the signature of Polish President Lech Kaczynski must come before he signs. (P.B./transl.jl)
