Brussels, 17/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - Czech Industry Minister Vladimir Tošovsk?, Swedish Energy Minister who will be taking over as chair of the EU Energy Council, Maud Olofsson, and EU Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs will be meeting a delegation of OPEC ministers (the Organisation of Petroleum producing countries) in Vienna, Austria, on 23 June, led by acting OPEC president, Angola's oil minister José Maria Botelho de Vasconcelos, accompanied by his successor, Ecuador's oil minister Germunico Pinto and OPEC Secretary General Abdalla Salem El-Badri. This 6th meeting of the ministers will provide an opportunity to examine progress in joint work since the last meeting in Brussels on 24 June 2009. The ministers will prepare a work programme for the next 12 months. Last year, the ministers decided to hold a round table on the capture and storage of carbon in Brussels in late October 2008, to launch research into the impact of the financial markets on the oil price and price volatility (and a workshop in Vienna in early 2009 on the same subject), a feasibility study on the idea of setting up a joint EU-OPEC energy research centre and preparation of a mandate for a joint study into refining.
