Brussels, 17/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 16 June, the European Commission launched the Build Up website of information on reducing buildings' energy consumption. The site includes several examples of best practice and information about energy saving legislation. It will be regularly updated and can be used directly by building users. Build Up will help owners and construction professionals keep informed about EU energy efficiency legislation. Buildings account for 40% of all the EU's energy consumption. The draft rewriting of Directive 2002/91/EC on the energy performance of buildings, unveiled by the Commission in November 2008, is still on the table at the Council and the European Parliament. The Swedish Presidency hopes to achieve agreement in principle on the issue before the end of the year. Website address: http://www.buildup.eu . (E.H./transl.fl)
