Brussels, 02/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - According to statistics published by Eurostat on Tuesday 2 June, the unemployment rate was 9.2% in April 2009, compared with 8.9% in March and 7.3% in April 2008. The EU27 unemployment rate was 8.6% in April 2009, compared with 8.4% in March. It was 6.8% in April 2008. For the euro area this is the highest rate since January 2006.
