26/05/2009 (Agence Europe) - In a joint statement, Asia-Europe (ASEM) foreign ministers meeting in Hanoi on 25-26 May condemn the North Korean nuclear test carried out on 25 May which, they say, “constitutes a clear violation of the six-party agreements and the relevant UNSC resolutions and decisions”. European and Asian ministers (including from China) also called for “verifiable denuclearisation” of the Korean peninsula. They called for restrictions on political parties in Burma to be lifted and for political prisoners to be released as quickly as possible. The Burmese regime is also urged to prepare and hold general multi-party free and fair elections in 2010. (H.B./transl.jl)
