25/05/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission draft regulation on succession and wills should finally be presented early summer. The proposal, which was expected for March, had finally been deferred after British and Irish delegations demonstrated opposition to the principle of “forced heirship” (compulsory hereditary reserve) foreseen in the draft. “We are almost ready. We are hard at work setting out the details of the proposal”, a European source said. A number of media, however, are announcing the proposal for the autumn, explaining that the Commission does not wish to
compromise the Irish referendum. The same source said: “This has nothing to do with the Irish referendum. It is an extremely complicated matter and we therefore want to be sure we reach the
