Brussels, 19/05/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 19 May, Commissioner Olli Rehn received the official response from the government of Slovenia to his offer of mediation with a view to settling the Croatia-Slovenia border conflict that is also blocking Croatia's membership talks. Olli Rehn confirmed to the press that Slovenia is calling for a number of amendments to the proposal made by the Commission (setting up of an arbitration panel responsible for settling the border dispute) but refused to comment on the content. The Commission will examine the Slovenian and Croatian responses in detail and propose a new trilateral meeting in coming weeks, Mr Rehn said. (H.B./transl.jl)
