Brussels, 18/05/2009 (Agence Europe) - The role of innovation and creativity in the public sector was the subject of the third Brussels Debate held on Wednesday 13 within the framework of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009. Entitled “Innovation and Creativity in Europe's public sector: time for radical change”, the debate was organised with the European Policy Centre (EPC) and chaired by EPC Director General Hans Martens. Discussions were on the role of innovation in the quality of services provided by the public sector and on the innovation capacity of European public sectors in order to continue providing high standards against a background of fierce competition from abroad and demographic decline at home. The first two of the six debates organised as part of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation were on the knowledge society and the future of education. The next will be dedicated to sustainable development, cultural diversity and the arts and creative industries. (I.L./transl.jl)
