14/05/2009 (Agence Europe) - The EU has expressed concern about the health of Nobel prize-winner Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. In a declaration published on 13 May, the Czech presidency called on the Burmese authorities to guarantee that Ms Suu Kyi had, “immediate and proper medial care”. The EU27 is also critical of the “illegal house arrest” of the main Burmese opposition figure and “urgently calls for her unconditional release”. (H.B./trans/rh)
