14/05/2009 (Agence Europe) - The sixth session of the joint EU-Mexico Council took place on Thursday 14 May in Prague. The two parties agreed to continue their discussions on concrete action to follow in view of implementing the strategic partnership they decided to set up at the fourth EU-Mexico Summit in Lima last year (the European Commission then produced proposals for working out the political framework - EUROPE 9704). In a joint press release, they identified several areas of consultation: disarmament and non-proliferation, arms control for conventional weapons and ammunition, the fight against terrorism and organised cross-border crime, development funding, immigration and the environment and sustainable development, human rights, public security and UN reform.
