Brussels, 29/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 29 April, the European Commission decided not to raise any objections to a Czech state aid scheme that aims to promote green transport in the region of Severovýchod. Beneficiary projects will consist of constructing and upgrading refuelling stations for public transport operators.
The aid scheme, amounting to 75 million CZ Koruna between 2009 and 2014, will support the provision of alternative refuelling stations (which provide alternative fuel for less polluting vehicles. Currently, alternative fuels range from biofuels and natural gas to electricity and hydrogen). The aim is to improve the accessibility and efficiency of ecological public transport and, at the same time, encourage the use of public transport instead of individual transport in the Severovýchod region. According to the Commission, the advantage conferred by the aid is not disproportionate to the extent that it will have an impact on competition and on Community trade. (L.C./transl.jl)
