Brussels, 16/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - The 7th World Investment Conference is meeting in La Baule, France, on 3-5 June. The conference theme is, “Investing in Global Cities: Opportunities in Adversity” and it will be exploring the question of regional competitiveness. During the event, Ernst & Young will be presenting the European Attractiveness Survey 2009 and several mayors from major cities such as Lyons, Milan, Porto, Prague and Warsaw, will come and share their experiences.

This annual conference has also been nicknamed, the summer “Mini-Davos” and is organised by the Europe + Foundation. Every year the conference brings together more than 1000 business leaders, political decision-makers and experts in investment and economic development, in order to debate and develop recommendations aimed at reinforcing the attractiveness of Europe and its regions.

The Europe + Foundation was set up by the PGA group and Ernst & Young to host the World Investment Conference and to carry out a lever effect in support of attractiveness and competitiveness in Europe and its territories: innovation, research, higher education, infrastructure, social arena, health, regional planning, clusters etc. A press release stresses that it was partly devised as a way of complementing the Lisbon strategy.
