Infringement proceedings against United Kingdom over protection of privacy

Brussels, 14/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has opened infringement proceedings against the United Kingdom for failing to respect Community rules on protection of privacy and personal data. "Technologies like internet behavioural advertising can be useful for businesses and consumers, but they must be used in a way which complies with EU rules", warned Commissioner Viviane Reding, who is responsible for the information society and media.
