Countries removed from OECD blacklist

Brussels, 07/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) expressed delight on Tuesday 7 April 2009 that Costa Rica, Malaysia, the Philippines and Uruguay have pledged to respect OECD rules on the exchange of information between public authorities in investigation of alleged tax fraud. The OECD announced that the four countries have been removed form its blacklist of un-cooperative sites published at the G20 London Summit on Thursday 2 April 2009 (see EUROPE
9876). The four countries are now on the OECD's second list of countries which have pledged to reform their systems but have not yet introduced the necessary legislation into their legal systems and bilateral agreements. (M.B. trans fl)
