01/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 31 March, the European Commission approved the proposed acquisition of sole control over the UK company, Gold Medal International, by Thomas Cook Group, also of the UK. The activities of both companies are largely complementary. The Commission reached the conclusion that the operation would not significantly hinder effective competition in the European Economic Area or in any substantial part of that area. (O.L./transl.jl)
