01/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - The Commission's campaign on European citizenship is now moving to Slovenia. Under the slogan “European citizenship: not just words, but also concrete rights!” the campaign will tour 10 Slovenian towns from 1 to 11 April 2009. It aims to inform citizens of their rights as defined by the European Union's Charter of Fundamental Rights. These are: - the right to vote, the right to stand as a candidate in local and European elections in the member state of residence, the right to petition the European Parliament, etc. After Romania, Germany and Bulgaria in 2008, the next campaign will take place in Slovakia in 2009.
