31/03/2009 (Agence Europe) -The Algerian foreign minister, Mourad Medelci, is reported by All Africa press to have accused the EU and United States when addressing ENA mid-March not only of supporting but also of blocking Algeria's accession to the WTO. Launched in 1987, Algeria's talks for accession to the WTO, which entered into their last phase, are still stumbling over two key questions - the opening of energy services to international competition and the double energy pricing between the Algerian internal market and the international market. Since 1987, Algeria has held 10 rounds of talks allowing it to answer 213 requests put forward by the members of the WTO. Algeria has completed its negotiations for bilateral agreements on access to the market for goods and services with five countries (Brazil, Cuba, Switzerland, Uruguay and Venezuela), but it must still seal such agreements with the EU and other countries (Australia, Canada, South Korea, Ecuador, United States, Japan, Malaysia, Norway and Turkey).
