31/03/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 30 March, EU27 transport ministers endorsed the European Air Traffic Management Master Plan (ATM) of the SESAR project as well as a resolution on approval of the plan. They call on the European Commission to ensure that the joint SESAR venture, which is responsible for the development of technologies to allow modern management of air traffic within the context of the Single Sky programme, presents an update of this plan by the end of 2010 at the latest. The Commission is also invited to prepare annual reports as of 2010 on the progress made in establishing the ATM master plan, which would also cover the risk management plan. With a view to ensuring coordination with the American air traffic management programme, NEXTGEN, the Council calls on the Commission to open talks on the memorandum for cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States.
