Prospect of compromise by end May at European Parliament first reading on revision of European Globalisation Adjustment Fund

Brussels, 12/03/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 9 March, EU employment and social affairs ministers discussed the proposed review of the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (GAF) launched by the European Commission as part of its economic recovery plan initiated on 26 November 2008. Discussion covered temporary enlargement of the scope of the fund, the level of admissibility of requests for aid, and the rate of EU co-financing, said Council President Petr Necas after the day's business....
