Brussels, 29/01/2009 (Agence Europe) - The Council of the European Union is unlikely to appeal against the Court of First Instance judgment of 4 December, annulling the inclusion of the People's Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI) on the black list of terrorist organisations. The EU Council has two months, that is, until 5 February, to lodge an appeal, on points of law only, with the Court of Justice. “The Council as an institution will very probably not appeal,” said a European source. Consequently, the Court judgment and the removal of the PMOI from the European list of terrorist organisations will stand (see EUROPE 9826). (B.C./transl.rt)
