Brussels, 13/01/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 13 January, the European Commission announced it had opened an in-depth inquiry to establish whether an agreement sealed between the Hungarian government and the Hungarian oil and gas company, MOL, infringes EC Treaty state aid rules. The agreement above all exempts MOL from a recent increase in mining fees due on revenues from hydrocarbons exploitation, which affects other operators.
