09/12/2008 (Agence Europe) - Council of Europe human rights commissioner Thomas Hammarberg published a thematic document on Friday 5 December 2008 on protection of privacy in the war on terror. In a press release, he explains that terrorism is a persistent threat to human rights, but so are people's reactions to terrorism. The time has come, he said, to review the measures that have been taken to collect, store, analyse, exchange and use personal data. In the thematic document, the commissioner recommends responding to terrorism by reaffirming standards and principles of human rights.
