Some Member States feel that 95 years is too long for protection period for performing artists

Brussels, 26/11/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 1 December, the European Competitiveness Ministers will take note of a report by the French Presidency on progress in work carried out at national expert level on the legislative initiative which proposes to extend from 50 years to 95 the duration of the rights enjoyed by the performing artists of musical pieces (see EUROPE 9706).
