THE DAY IN POLITICS / (eu) eu/chad

12/11/2008 (Agence Europe) - Following our article published on 4 November (see EUROPE 9774) Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Luxembourg would like to point out that the suspension of MSF activities in the health centre in the Iridimi refugee camp and the Iriba local hospital were related to the restructuring of the project and the reduction in the number of jobs after changes in the situation on the ground. The issue of salaries was never raised. The MSF team was evacuated on 26 May, and, until its return to Iriba on 29 August, it continued to supply medicines to all the region's health establishments: the health centres in the Iridimi and Toulum refugee camps and in the towns of Iriba and Tiné, and also the hospital in Iriba.
