Nicolas Sarkozy prefers notion of "banking transparency" to that of banking secrecy

Brussels, 10/11/2008 (Agence Europe) -When asked about the need for certain European countries to put an end to banking secrecy, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, speaking on Friday 7 November at the end of the extraordinary European Council on Europe's position on the reform of the international financial system (EUROPE 9778), said that he was in favour of banking secrecy "when it comes to protecting the privacy of individuals", because "everybody has the right not to have their bank...
