Brussels, 15/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - European Commission President José Manuel Barroso has expressed his concern at the political instability in Ukraine caused by the open conflict between President Viktor Yushchenko and his Prime Minister Julia Timoshenko. “We are following events with great concern. It's very worrying,” Barroso told press in Brussels on Wednesday. “We appeal to all political parties in Ukraine to come to agreement on stability. We need a stable Ukraine which continues to its path towards closer relations with the EU,” he said. Yushchenko dissolved Parliament this week and called a legislative election for 7 December. Timoshenko held talks with EU High Representative for the CFSP Javier Solana in Brussels on Wednesday morning. She then took part in the “pre-summit” meeting of leaders belonging to the European People's Party (EPP). (H.B./transl.rt)
