Brussels, 10/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - At a working lunch with Nicolas Sarkozy at the Elysée Palace on Wednesday 10 September, European Parliament President Hans-Gert Pöttering and the leaders of the political groups in the EP discussed the Russo-Georgian crisis and the visits of the EU delegation to Moscow and Tbilisi on 8 September. Pöttering welcomed the determination and effectiveness with which the French Presidency had acted to defuse the conflict, and was pleased to report that the Presidency had felt it necessary to inform the EP Conference of the Presidents personally and swiftly. Pöttering said he was confident that Russia would ultimately fully comply with the 6-point plan of 12 August. (H.B./transl.rt)
