Brussels, 09/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - According to diplomatic sources quoted by AFP, the EU is expected to extend definitive antidumping duties on leather upper shoes from China and Vietnam for at least a year. These duties expire next October. This is the result of a compromise to overcome divisions between member states at the Council. These duties were set up in 2006 and extended. They affect 16.5% and 10% of Chinese and Vietnamese shoes respectively and were originally set up for two and not five years (EUROPE 9279). The diplomatic source also confirmed information from the Sunday Times alleging that a director from DG Trade at the Commission had provided sensitive information to journalists posing as lobbyists (EUROPE 9735).
