European Parliament wants 2011 to be declared “year of volunteering”

Brussels, 23/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 16 July, a press conference took place at the European Parliament for promoting 2011 as the “year of volunteering”. This parliamentary request is expected to be submitted to the Commission for a second time. Marian Harkin MEP (ADLE, Ireland stressed that, “it will not simply be a shame if the Commission does not recognise this year, it will be an absolute disaster”.
