15/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 15 July 2008, the European Commission cleared the planned acquisition of joint control of the UK undertaking Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers Ltd (GAUM) by the US company Berkshire Hathaway and the German company Münchener Rückversicherungs-Gesellschaft AG (Munich Re). The parties' activities overlap with respect to the provision of underwriting and management services in the field of aerospace insurance, but the European Commission's investigation showed that the companies would continue to come under competitive pressure from current and potential suppliers like ACE, AIG, Allianz, La Reunion Aerienne and Swiss Re.
