The European Council of 19-20 June, which was largely given over to the consequences of the Irish rejection of the Lisbon Treaty, decided to continue the ratification process and to return to the issue at its next meeting on 15 October (see EUROPE 9687). Heads of state and government also considered measures that could be taken in response to soaring food and oil prices. Full Council conclusions are published here. (A.B.)
