Brussels, 23/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - The European Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs and the Slovenian and French energy ministers Andrej Vizjak and Jean-Louis Borloo, the current and next Presidents of the Energy Council, will meet the Algerian energy minister and President in office of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Chakib Khelil on Tuesday 24 June in Brussels for the 5th meeting of the EU-OPEC ministerial dialogue launched in June 2005 (EUROPE 8965). Apart from follow-up on the meeting of June 2007 (EUROPE 9452), the agenda will include a debate on a European study on oil processing and refining and an OPEC analysis of the impact of financial markets on oil prices. The participants will look at the progress of carbon capture and storage activities and discuss the joint EU-OPEC Energy Technology Centre. The EU's long-term energy scenarios and OPEC's global oil prospects will also feature in the discussions. (E.H./transl.fl)
