23/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - Arcomed project leaders have been appealing for the Barcelona-Genoa line to be included in the next Trans-European Network transport programming in 2010. On Tuesday 24 June in Brussels they meet up with representatives from the Spanish, French and Italian transport departments, as well as representatives from the Commission and MEPs. At this meeting, Arcomed representatives will be submitting the results from their socio-economic studies analysing the feasibility of this project to connect the two main Genoa-Rotterdam and Lisbon-Kiev axes by connecting them up to the three main Mediterranean ports (Barcelona, Marseilles and Genoa). Arcomed, points out that due to their technical diversity and poor inter-operability, the current lines for Barcelona-Genoa (around 920 km of them) do not effectively respond to passenger needs or those of transporting goods.
