17/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 17 June, Spain had still not responded to the European Commission's reasoned opinion calling on it remove the conditions imposed by the Spanish energy sector regulator (CNE) on the acquisition of the Spanish energy supplier Endesa by the Italian Enel group and the Spanish company Acciona. If it fails to respond, “we will have to determine the steps to take in the infringement procedure,” said a spokesman for the Commission. The issue was not on the agenda for the Commission meeting on Tuesday 17 June, he said, without indicating whether or not it would be discussed at the next meeting of the College of Commissioners on 25 June.
