27/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - American company Honeywell Aerospace has been selected as one of the 15 companies making up the executive committee of the SESAR joint undertaking, which is responsible for the technical section of the European Single Sky programme (to modernise air traffic control in Europe). Speaking to EUROPE, Paolo Carmassi, Honeywell Europe Executive Director, said that Honeywell Aerospace was the only “non-European” company and the only one working with general and business aviation selected as part of the European programme. Carmassi said that, thanks to the experience Honeywell Aerospace had gained through its involvement in NEXTGEN, the US equivalent of the Single Sky, he and his team would make a contribution to strengthening “interoperability in defining solutions” in Europe and the United States. The last SESAR meeting, in Rome on 5-6 May, activated the programme's development phase, which will be officially launched by the adoption of the second European Single Sky package in June. (A.By.)
