Brussels, 16/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 15 May 2008, the European Commission gave the go-ahead to four merger and acquisition deals. Three European subsidiaries of South Korean company Samsung Techwin Co. will be bought up by South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co., which designs, manufactures and sells electronic products. The three subsidiaries are Samsung Opto-Electronics GmbH (Germany), SamsungOpto-Electronics France S.A.S and Samsung Opto-Electronics UK, all sellers of normal and digital cameras. In the second deal, Brazilian steel company Gonvarri Brasil Produtos Siderúrgicos SA is being jointly bought by ArcelorMittal of Luxembourg and Gonvarri of Spain. Gonvarri specialises in manufacturing steel for the car industry. EADS NV (Netherlands) and Sita France SA (controlled by French company Suez) are jointly buying French company T.A.R.M.A.C. Aerosave SAS, active in aircraft storage, aircraft decommissioning and spare parts recovery. The Commission also gave the go-ahead for the creation of a new company to build gas-fired power stations and related infrastructure in Slovakia, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovenia. The new company will be jointed controlled by ÈEZ, a.s. (Czech Republic) and Magyar Olaj- és Gázipari Nyilvánosan Mûködõ Részvénytársaság (Hungary).
