Brussels, 06/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - Receiving Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs in Moscow on 4 May (EUROPE 9653), Russian Energy Minister Victor Khristenko restated Moscow's concerns concerning the provision, commonly known as the “Gazprom clause”, which would impose the same rules for unbundling of production/supply activities and network/transport activities on both vertically integrated third country energy operators and on EU operators. In a press release, Mr Khristenko describes the clause introduced in the legislative proposals of the 3rd package for liberalisation of the internal energy market as a “discriminatory measure”. (E.H.)
