29/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission does not intend to amend rules governing insurance for aircraft operators. In a report adopted on Wednesday 23 April on implementation of the rule defining minimum demands for insurance for aircraft operators and transporters, the Commission points out the increase in insurance prices for certain transporters caused by implementation of the regulation. Nevertheless, it considers that the rule should not be amended and that the reintroduction of rules at a national level for certain operators, notably non-commercial flights and light aircraft, would be counterproductive. The regulation entered into force on 30 April 2005 and harmonises insurance rules for all aircraft operators (commercial or non-commercial, European and third countries) and third parties. (A.By)
