Five cities vie to house EIIT headquarters

Brussels, 28/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - Five cities have made it official that they would like to house the new European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIIT), according to a spokesperson for the Slovenian Presidency of the EU on Monday, namely Vienna (the capital of Austria), Bratislava (the capital of Slovakia), Budapest (the capital of Hungary), Wroclaw in Poland and Sant Cugat del Valles (near Barcelona) in Spain. The city of Munich in Germany, also reported to be interested in applying, has not come forward. The Slovenian Presidency is planning to discuss the EIIT headquarters at the 30 May 2008 Competitiveness Council. The final decision will be made at a council of EU ministers in June 2008. (I.L.)
