German consumer protection law out of step with Community rules

Brussels, 17/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - In a judgment delivered on Thursday 17 April 2008, the Court of Justice of the European Communities ruled that German law gives too much protection to traders in their transactions with consumers. The Court says that Community law does not allow for for the use made by the consumer of defective goods before seeking reimbursement (case C-404/06).
