13/08/208 (Agence Europe) - On 12 February, the Council adopted without debate the draft common action supporting the international instrument, set in place by the United Nations, allowing the member states to carry out swift and reliable identification and tracing of small arms and light weapons (SALW). The common action was adopted as part of the EU's strategy to fight the accumulation and illegal trafficking in SALW and ammunition, adopted by the Council in December 2005. (A.By.)
