13/02/2008 (Agence Europe) - The fact that the ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon by the Slovakian for an undetermined period of time (due to a political dispute between the government and the opposition regarding the law on media: EUROPE 9598) may have a negative impact on preparations for the country's accession to the eurozone, according to Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico. “This will have a negative impact on the assessment of the Slovakian Republic's ambition to bring in the euro. There is no doubt about it”, said Mr Fico on 12 February. The European Commission and the ECB are to give their opinion, in the next few months, on Bratislava's application to join the eurozone on 1 January 2009. (H.B.)
