Parliament wants participation of women in technology to be encouraged

Brussels, 23/01/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 18 January in Strasbourg, the European Parliament adopted the own initiative report on the role of women in industry, by Ilda Figueiredo (GUE/NGL, Portugal). The vote in favour (508 votes for, 41 against, with 24 abstentions) expresses the Parliament's concern about the low percentage of women in the hi-tech sector. The Parliament calls on member states and the European Commission to implement strategies for tackling the career development...
