23/01/2008 (Agence Europe) - On 18 January, the European Commission granted clearance to the acquisition of sole control of Trametal SpA of Italy and Spartan UK Ltd. Trametal and Spartan both produce hot-rolled flat steel, specifically quarto plates. The two companies will be taken over by Metinvest BV of the Netherlands, which is active in the same sector. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. (C.D.)
