Brussels, 23/01/2008 (Agence Europe) - According to Eurostat, the industrial new orders index grew by 2.7% in November 2007 compared with October 2007 in the 13-country euro area. In the EU27, new orders increased by 1.9% in November 2007 after a rise of 5.5% in October.
Excluding ships, railway and aerospace equipment, industrial new orders gained 0.6% in the euro area and 0.5% in the EU27 in November 2007. In November 2007 compared with November 2006, industrial new orders increased by 11.9% in the euro area and by 15.7% in the EU27. Total industry, excluding ships, railway and aerospace equipment, grew by 6.6% in the euro area and by 8.1% in the EU27.
In terms of monthly changes, the highest increases were recorded in Portugal (5.5%), Germany (5.1%) and Italy (3.4%), and the largest decreases in Latvia (12.9%), Ireland (10.4%), and the Czech Republic (10.3%). (L.C.)
