23/01/2008 (Agence Europe) - On 23 January, the European Commission adopted the report on gender equality (2008 edition) which is to be presented at the Spring summit on 8-9 March, in Brussels. The report shows: - quantitative progress has been made by women on the labour market, but this has not been equalled in qualitative terms; - women face greater difficulties then men in reaching decision-making positions; - greater equality between men and women necessarily means eliminating stereotypes as these continue to influence the choice of education, training or employment, participation in domestic and family duties and representation in decision-making jobs.
