21/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - The release of three hostages by the Marxist rebel group, FARC, in Colombia, is “very good news”, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, External Relations Commissioner, states in a press release on 20 December. The Commission trusts that this is the “first step towards a release of all those held against their will by the FARC under conditions which are a constant affront to human dignity”, Ms Ferrero-Waldner stressed. The EU supports all initiatives in pursuit of humanitarian agreements that can secure the release of all hostages, end the armed conflict and bring peace to Colombia. (H.B.)
