20/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has given approval to two proposed acquisitions. On 18 December, after investigation under the simplified merger review procedure, it approved the creation of a joint company by US computer software firm Symantec Corporation and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd of China, which provides telecommunications services and solutions. The new company will develop and sell (electronic) storage appliance solutions and security appliance solutions. The following day, the go-ahead was given to the purchase of the Scandinavian arm of the Actebis group, which is mainly active in the wholesale of information technology products, by Arques Industries AG of Germany, which is active in selling, re-selling and assembly of information technology products.
