Brussels, 13/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 12 December, the Commission authorised three proposals of acquisition. Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB (Sweden) and Motorola Inc. (United States) are to acquire joint control of UI Holdings B.V. (UI Holdings) of the Netherlands, which develops mobile phone user interfaces and application frameworks through its subsidiary, UIQ Technology. In another operation, Acal IT Solutions (held by British Acal IT Limited), which is active in the wholesale distribution of IT products and services, will be acquired by Avnet Inc of the United States, which also distributes electronic components, computer products and technology services. The third acquisition is that of Forgings International L.P. by Oak Hill Capital Management, LLC (Oak Hill) of the Cayman Islands. Forgings wholly controls Firth Rixson Limited of the UK, which products and distributes forged products and specialist alloys. All three acquisitions were examined under simplified merger review procedure. (C.D.)
